Am I entitled to a medical leave from my job?
If you find yourself needing a medical leave for yourself or to care for an ill family member, it can be stressful to have to ask your employer for time off. You may be concerned that your employer may try to replace you while you are out or may otherwise retaliate against you. The good news is that the law provides for protected medical leaves of absence including some types of leaves that require your employer keep your job open for you for a certain time frame. In other circumstances, an employer may be required to provide an extended leave as a reasonable accommodation.
